🔍 Check My Humidity →Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. The number you see in a forecast is usually relative humidity — the percentage of moisture the air is holding compared to the maximum it could hold at that temperature. At 100% relative humidity, the air is fully saturated and water begins to condense, producing dew, fog, or rain. At 30%, the air is dry and holding less than a third of its capacity.
The catch with relative humidity is that warm air can hold far more moisture than cold air. That's why 70% humidity on a hot summer day feels oppressive, while 70% on a cold winter day feels crisp — the same percentage represents very different amounts of actual moisture.
| Relative Humidity | How It Feels |
|---|---|
| Below 30% | Dry — chapped lips, static, irritated skin and eyes. |
| 30–50% | Comfortable — the ideal indoor and outdoor range. |
| 50–60% | Slightly humid — noticeable but tolerable. |
| Above 60% | Muggy — sweat doesn't evaporate, feels hotter and sticky. |
Comfort: High humidity makes hot days feel hotter and cold days feel colder and damper. Health: Very low humidity dries out skin and airways; very high humidity makes heat dangerous and encourages mold. Sleep: Bedrooms in the 40–50% range are most comfortable. Weather clues: Rising humidity often signals incoming rain, while the gap between temperature and dew point tells you how likely fog is overnight.
Coastal and Gulf cities are famous for sticky summers. Check today's humidity for these cities:
Check humidity alongside the temperature, not on its own. On a hot day, a high humidity reading is your warning that the "feels like" temperature will be well above the thermometer — time to slow down, hydrate, and seek shade. On a cold day, high humidity means the damp chill will cut deeper than the temperature suggests. Indoors, aim to keep humidity between 40% and 50% for the best comfort and health.
